The grape Olaszrizling is planted all over Hungary but the northern shores of Lake Balaton are particularly propitious to produce a great wine with. Is known as Welschriesling in Austria or Graševina in Croatia.
The name “Hematit” comes from the fact that the grapes were cultivated in vineyards whose soil is rich in red sandstone and hematite iron ore. As a result, this Olaszrizling has a crisp minerality that is the calling card of Csopak as a wine region. It is made solely from hand-harvested organic grapes and underwent a brief period of skin contact followed by tank fermentation with eight months on lees.
It has intense aromas of crushed red apples, yellow pears and citrus. On the palate is round and waxi with a creamy and mineral finish. Great as an apperitif or paired with light dishes.
