IKON Tulipán 2017

The Syrah that had been the main component of the iconic Tulipán during earlier vintages is not part of the blend from this vintage onwards. After the first 2008 vintage, the winery reverted to the classic Bordeaux blend. The most beautiful grapes – half of it is from Merlot, plus Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc – selected from a plot on the top of Diós, behind the winery. Following the 28 days of skin contact, it spent a bit more than a year in 225-litre Hungarian oak barrels, out of which one-third were new. The outcome is a wine that has a posture and character. It’s a vibrant, subtly tannic wine with elegant flavours, black berry fruits and a touch of chocolate and cigar.
