When we make Cuvée 11, we think about which plots will form the basis of the 11 when the grapes are still forming out on the vines. Kékfrankos defines its style and structure. Then we dress up this exciting and zesty Carpathian Basin foundation with Bordeaux accessories, with the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. It is given shorter barrel ageing so that the core variety’s vibration, the spiciness should not be overwritten by anything, and the others only colour it further,” says estate manager Péter Pohl. Four varieties, from four famous vineyards, from the slopes of Makár, Konkoly, Kopár and Ördögárok. It’s richly floral and spicy with wild strawberry, blackberry and clove notes.
