The region of Somló is located in Northern Transdanubia, at the foot of an extinct volcano. It is the smallest AOC in Hungary. Juhfark is one of the star grape varieties of the region, it offers a yellow color with greenish reflections. Its wine is rich, opulent and elegant which naturally has a very nice acidity linked to the volcanic soil.
The "Somló's vagabond", Kis Tamás, has been working on the mountain since 2010 and is probably the most talented young winemaker. 20-year-old vines, on the east side of the hill, where the soil is marl with basalt and tuft debris, spontaneous fermentation in barrels, aged in large barrels of 5 Hl for 8 months. Organic culture.
Straw yellow colour, the bouquet reveals summer apple, accompanied by wet stone and thermal water. Toasty and buttery. A remarkable, crispy acidity, beautiful minerality throughout the mouth. Long, elegant, fruity-salty palate. Round and dynamic. Great typicity.
Is it something unique you're after? This is your wine. You can keep it at least 10 years.
