“One of my favourite vineyards, a 17-hectare miniature Tuscany with its own slopes. It has a distinguishable, pronounced character every year, which is due to the thin clay soil and the volcanic tuff underneath,” says György Lőrincz Jr. during the harvest.
2017 was an exceptional vintage in Eger, so it’s not surprising that the Hangács also brought outstanding quality. Alongside its deep fruitiness and intense spiciness, its taut minerality is immediately recognisable. Mushroom, stone, chocolate and blood orange on the nose with eastern spices. A high-energy wine with the pronounced spice of Kékfrankos and Kadarka, the gentleness of Pinot Noir and the black fruit of the Bordeaux varieties.
A Grand Superior single-vineyard Bikavér (Bull’s blood) from the tuff-clay soil of the Hangács vineyard. It is the blend of five grape varieties (Kékfrankos, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Kadarka) fermented in open vats and tanks, aged for 16 months in 500-litre barrels.
