The region of Somló is located in Northern Transdanubia, at the foot of an extinct volcano. It is the smallest AOC in Hungary.
The "Somló's vagabond", Kis Tamás, has been working on the mountain since 2010 and is probably the most talented young winemaker. The soil is marl with basalt and tuft debris, spontaneous fermentation in barrels, aged in large barrels of 5 Hl. Organic farming.
Pale yellow colour. The bouquet reveals floral notes, accompanied by stone and thermal water.
A remarkable, crispy acidity, beautiful minerality throughout the mouth. Smoke, crushed stones, citrus, green spices. On thepalate it's very balanced, smooth, a bit oily, even though the acidity is massive. Salty and earthy finish. Unique et spectacular.
