Old-vine Hárslevelű, restrained use of oak. Besides the 8 grams of residual sugar and 7 grams of acidity, it has the citrusy deliciousness we like the Barát for.

„100% Hárslevelü. Fermented in stainless steel, aged 6 months in used oak barrels (20%) and steel tanks (80%). Residual sugar 8 grammes per litre, acidity 7.2 grammes per litre. Barát is a loess vineyard in Tarcal, on the side of Tokaj Hill. This wine has been made since 2006.
Lovely nose of peach with shimmering citrus and a touch of clay. Juicy, fresh and lively in the mouth, with a fruity-fleshy feel. Long and very minerally, ending on the same notes as the nose. Delicious!”

« Gizella is one of the best producers of Tokaj, making wines in a modern, precise and crispy, almost steely fashion. Their entry level white and the Szamorodni are both at the top of their class, just as is this single vineyard Hárslevelű.
Quite modern. Smells Australian to me, kind of… not typical for a dry Tokaji, neither for Hárslevelű. Perfectly clean, as opposed to the majority of wines from the region. Give it some air and Tokaj starts to show up, bringing quince and citrus notes, and some ginger. This has depth to it, real complexity, and it’s not heavy at all. Medium bodied, hits only 13%, but it offers layers and layers of flavors. A lot to enjoy here and it’s easy to drink, too. Very well made, serious wine. »
