Welschrieslings of Badacsony, Csobánc, Gulács and Köves mountain united in one bottle. Expressive nose and mouth with great typicity. It exudes fruitiness with notes of subtle mint and citrus. Salty and basaltous nature. Perfect balance of acidity and minerality. Modern classic from the Balaton Uplands.

"From four different mountainous regions (Badacsony, Csobánc, Somló and Szent György) this olaszrizling (welshriesling) was 60 percent oak fermented, but in super giant oak (10000L). This basalt-driven white opens with a potent, petrol-slicked nose before darting into lightly perfumed pear, peach blossom and ginger which lingers on the super stony, salty finish. Bright grapefruit acidity slices through the subtle white and yellow perfumes, leaving an impression of tautness and grip. Very interesting. 89/100" Anthony Gismondi

About Welschriesling

Quite in contrast to its European name – which literally means Romanic Riesling or Olaszrizling in Hungarian – this variety of wine is neither Italian, nor Riesling. Its origin is still disputed, however, we know that it has been brought to the Carpathian Basin from our Western European neighbours. Although it shares part of its name with Rhine Riesling, they are in fact genetically unrelated. Having found its perfect home in Central Europe, the variety is grown by several wine regions in Hungary. For most Hungarians the name Olaszrizling has become synonymous with white wine. Suitable for the production of light white wines as well as full-bodied items with long aging potential…Or for a nice spritzer in summer!
